August 15, 2010 • Design, Life in DK : ArtRebels + Medina
ArtRebels said they wanted a promotional tool for the launch of their online wholesale shop platform during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Their original idea was to make a cardboard fan, but after some brainstorming I suggested a pinwheel with the slogan, “A Cool Breeze.” They were sold. I designed flyers that could be made into pinwheels.
We put the pinwheels in a fun tote bag or muleposer (literally translates as muzzle bags).
I also recently learned the word for paper fasteners: soldaterben (soldier’s legs)!
I also made some fun props (available at sah-rah.com) for a photo booth.
We bicycled around with two Christiana bikes and set up a photo booth in different locations.
And took photos of stylish people.
One highlight was the mention in the Dansk Daily. You can view the rest of the photos here.
Another highlight was Medina! A huge pop singer over here. I may or may not have had her music on repeat all summer long. You can see some of her videos here.

Because you’re never too old to be an intern again. For the next few months I’m working with the awesome crew at Art Rebels. Check out their site, their blog, their shop and stayed tuned for more music and art awesomeness at the Trailerpark Festival the last weekend in July! The other day we helped promote the festival throughout the city…

May 21, 2010 • Life in DK : The Pacifier Tree
Yesterday I took advantage of the beautiful, sunny day and explored Frederiksberg Have, a large garden/park in Frederiksberg that’s over 300 years old. You can get there in 15-20 minutes by bike or bus from the central train station in Copenhagen.
The park borders the Copenhagen Zoo and is home to Frederiksberg Palace.
It also has beautiful winding paths, lakes and great places to picnic or lay in the sun.
And it’s home to a suttetræ (pacifier tree), a tree full of pacifiers! Apparently it’s a Danish tradition when toddlers turn three they say goodbye to their beloved pacifiers and give them to a magical tree. The pacifiers are hung with ribbons, notes or pictures. How cute! The tree is near the playground by the entrance on Frederiksberg Allé. You can see more pics here.
